Cuba set to boost Russian tourist market

Havana - Cuba received more than 30,000 Russian tourists last year, and is set to surpass the number by the end of the current 2008 season, according to Cuba tourism deputy minister.

Deputy minister Alexis Trujillo, who will meet with Russian tour operators and airlines representatives in Moscow, said the market showed a growth of 4% last year.

The official assured that country has favorable conditions to maintain a steady growth in the Russian market, reported Prensa Latina.

Trujillo highlighted the interest of business people to invest in the tourist sector in Cuba, and noted that some negotiations are actually in a very advanced stage. He said a few Russian investments on the island should materialize this year 2008 and that this will directly favor the flow of tourists from that European nation to Cuba.
