CzechTourism to Open a Representative Office in Yekaterinburg

CzechTourism Representative Office will open in Yekaterinburg. The agreement was reached during the Czech Republic delegation's meeting with Deputy Mayor, Viktor Konteyev, and Chairperson for External Relations Committee, Svetlana Garipova. The tourist office will start operating in the capital of the mid Urals in September 2008, according to Interfax Tourism.

At the moment CzechTourism has an office in Moscow only. Opening a representative office in Yekaterinburg makes sense, since there is a consular office of the Czech Republic there, and there are direct flights from the Yekaterinburg airport to Prague.

Also, during the meeting with the Yekaterinburg officials the Czech delegation unveiled the plans for an unusual event aimed at increasing the number of Russian tourists in the Czech Republic. On 16 June a Czech delegation will arrive in Yekaterinburg by train to present the country's tourist opportunities, including some of the unknown resorts. Meetings and talks will be held with the local travel companies. Similar events will take place in other Russian towns and cities en route to Yekaterinburg. The train will travel from Moscow to Vladivostok.
