Russian Outbound
Travel in 2010, Quarter 1
According to figures from the Federal Statistics Service, which were published
on Thursday by Rostourism, in the first quarter of 2010 outbound tourism in Russia
increased by 44% against the first quarter of 2009, the year the global financial
crisis struck. However, the number of tourists coming to Russia rose by just 7%.
The following countries could be called ‘outsiders’ in terms of growth
in the number of Russian tourists: Greece (-7%), Finland (+1%), Hungary (2%),
Japan (4%) and France (7%). All the other countries included in the report have
growth of at least 10%. However, there are clear leaders among them. In first
place is Tunisia, with tourism growth of 328%; in second place is Thailand, with
an increase of 112%; and in third place is Israel (+71%). Fourth place is split
between China (+38%), Turkey (+37%), Cuba (+29%), England (+28%), United States
(+27%), Spain (+27%) and Italy (+26%).
